Funders have power. Even with the best of intentions, all too often funders cross the power boundaries in relations with their grantees and clients, and even with their fellow trustees. Some of these limits are legal, some are ethical, and some are set by best practices in the field. And, to make it even more complicated, foundations and philanthropists are increasingly asked to consider how assertive to be in the future of their non-profit grantees and what role social justice should play in their decision making and funding priorities. Since Estate Attorneys and Wealth Advisors often advise their clients on their clients' philanthropic behaviors, this is useful information often overlooked. This will be an interactive session utilizing a number of mini-cases.
