Charitable Life Settlements – A Peek Behind the Curtain

Every year tens of thousands of life insurance policies are surrendered for pennies on the dollar that could have provided six to seven figures of value for charities.

In this webinar we will examine how to uncover the fair market value (FMV) of life insurance and use it to benefit charity.  We will use case examples to demonstrate the FMV of convertible term insurance and universal life insurance that policy owners would otherwise lapse for little or no value.  This is an innovative concept for both charitable donors and charities looking to increase fundraising opportunities.

This webinar has been approved for 1 hour continuing education credit for the following designations:  CFP; PACE (CAP); and IMCA  (CIMA; CIMC; and CPWA.)

About the presenter:

Jon B. Mendelsohn is CEO and Co-founder of Ashar Group LLC, an independent, nationally licensed life settlement brokerage firm dedicated to representing policy owners and their advisory team in appraising and securing fair market value for their life insurance.

Jon is also CEO of Ashar SMV®, Secondary Market Valuation, a fee-based company that supports advanced planners and fiduciaries.  Ashar SMV® appraises life insurance assets for fair market value (FMV) and provides a formal, market-based valuation that identifies an essential data point for planning decisions and risk mitigation.  This proprietary solution was the outcome of a featured article in Estate Planning magazine in June 2014, “Complexities of Life Insurance Valuation”.

Both firms provide continuing education for advisors, CPAs, attorneys and serves as a resource to dozens of national broker-dealers, BGAs, and insurance carrier distribution channels.

Jon graduated from the University of Florida with two bachelor degrees and a master’s degree.  Jon is a proud supporter of the company cause, The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.  He and his family reside in Orlando, Florida.
