Many donors make gifts for all of the right reasons without taxes being the primary motivation, but the charitable deductions do help.  However, more and more, the Internal Revenue Service is disputing the charitable deduction of well-meaning donors and denying the deduction entirely because of "the devil in the details”.

Learn more about some of the common pitfalls that may seem minor at the time, but end up being the reasons why the IRS denies a deduction for a legitimate charitable gift.

This course offers one CFP credit, one PACE (CAP®) credit and one CIMA | CIMC | CPWA credit

About our presenters:

Kelly Hellmuth focuses on nonprofit and charitable advisory services, private wealth services, and trusts and estates. She represents charities, foundations, and charitable trusts in obtaining exemption from federal income tax and assists tax-exempt organizations in compliance matters, including governance issues, private benefit, self-dealing, excess benefit transactions, and unrelated business taxable income. Her work also includes charitable gift planning, including through the use of charitable trusts, conservation easements, and estate planning documents.
