About the webinar...

Philanthropy is steeped in myths that hurt communities of color rather than help them. Many current philanthropic strategies fail because they neglect the experience, wisdom, and gifts of those receiving help, and prioritize and perpetuate false myths. These myths fuel deficit-based models of philanthropy that do not work and will not change poverty. People of color have been seen as those who need help instead of recognizing the history of giving in our communities. The increase of giving circles particularly in communities of color demonstrate the changes occurring in philanthropy. In this discussion, Froswa' will share more about her book, serving as co-founder of the first Black women's giving circle in Texas (HERitage), and the role leaders can play to embrace and change the narrative.
