About the session...
This 1-hour session with AiP and Stanford University’s Effective Philanthropy Learning Initiative (EPLI) will: Introduce you to some of Stanford’s effective philanthropy concepts, research, and practical resources for donors and advisors Share highlights from Stanford’s latest research Allow you to learn by doing, giving you a chance to take the first step in the Effective Philanthropy process doing a sample activity which you can use immediately in your work or your own giving Have time for Q&A to with the Stanford and AiP team, sharing challenges and opportunities you face in your work or giving
The Effective Philanthropy team at the Stanford Center on Philanthropy & Civil Society has spoken with hundreds of donors and advisors, identifying challenges, expectations, and opportunities for better philanthropic engagement. This brief intro session will introduce you to the core principles of effective philanthropy and give you an interactive taste of their more in-depth workshops and courses for donors and advisors. Stanford’s resources touch upon a range of topics donors commonly face, including: finding your focus as a donor involving family members in a philanthropic giving conversation Choosing giving vehicles finding and vetting organizations making and tracking gifts
This session serves as a great preview for the multi-day Effective Philanthropy for Advisors Workshop (offered 3-4 times year)
