Aquanetta Betts is the Director of Planned Giving at George Mason University. Previously, she served as the Senior Executive Director of Planned Giving for World Vision (Eastern U.S.).

 

Before her roles within nonprofit organizations, she was an estate planning attorney for more than a decade, focusing on wills, trusts, and estates. She is a licensed attorney in the District of Columbia and Maryland. She is also the founder of Johnson Betts, LLC, a philanthropic consulting firm.

 

Betts holds leadership positions with the National Bar Association’s Real Property, Trusts, and Estates Section and the Baltimore Estate Planning Council. She serves on the board of the National Capital Gift Planners Council and the International Association of Advisors in Philanthropy. She is a past president of the Chesapeake Planned Giving Council and a former board member of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners.

 

She holds designations as a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy®, an Accredited Estate Planner®, and a Certified Fund Raising Executive. Betts earned her Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts from Florida International University. As a former flight attendant for American Airlines, she still enjoys the allure of travel.
