As professional advisors, we're all looking for ways to enhance our relationships and enrich the lives of our clients. We know that philanthropy has the power to open doors and change lives; now there's a specific methodology for initiating the conversation in a way that is simple, approachable, and proven to work. And with the door open, we have the opportunity to breathe life into the giving of the families and businesses we serve - allowing them to experience the reality that giving is truly about changing the hearts and minds of those who give, even more so than the recipient. 

In this interactive presentation, the audience will have an opportunity to see the results of some stunning research, but will also be inspired around their own giving and be led through methodology for enriching the lives of their clients. The principles taught are simple, yet profound. Meaningful, yet actionable. 

Both Ryan Ponsford and Yale Levey have interacted with audiences of all shapes and sizes in the United States and Canada. They have challenged their clients, allied professionals, family office personnel, hedge fund managers, financial institutions, nonprofit charitable organizations, and donors alike. They have inspired students of all ages including middle school, high school and university students but also, teenagers in schools in the juvenile court system, allied professionals, family and business leaders. Jointly, they have deployed programs that have resulted in profound transformation for all involved: students, faculty, schools, charities, donors. With the programs they deploy, minds are opened, possibilities are explored, imaginations are ignited, help is given, hearts are touched and lives are changed – forever. 

Yale Levey is owner and managing director of Next Generation Wealth Planning, Northern New Jersey based wealth services firm. He has been a successful advisor for 26 years where he has helped clients of wealth deploy planning that supports not only their money, but also their non-financial assets. True to one of AiP’s goals, he helps people connect their money to their meaning and live more fulfilling lives.

A charter member of AiP, Yale quickly rose through the ranks serving on the board from 2006-2010 where he chaired the marketing and media relations committee for most of his tenure. His leadership and innovative approaches have helped to shape this organization and define its vision. In 2009, Yale co-founded the Metro-NY Philanthropic advisor Network (NYPAN) eventually serving as the organizations President for two years prior to its transition into AiP-NY. NYPAN enjoyed remarkable success having attracted hundreds of attendees to its programs, including several well known philanthropists such as Andrew and Ann Tisch, Charles Bronfman, Edward Norton, Jennifer Buffet and David Robinson, among others.

A recognized resource, Yale has written and been interviewed in many industry publications such as The Wall St. Journal, Investment News, Financial Advisor Magazine, Research Magazine and Best Life Magazine, just to name a few. A gifted and talented speaker and communicator, Yale has a passion for helping his fellow advisors, his clients, his friends and his family succeed. He excels in showing people where they have capacity, and them empowering them to harness their personal potential. In early 2013, Yale received a phone call from Scott Farnsworth and Ryan Ponsford, co-creators of Main Street Philanthropy, asking if he wanted to get involved in the new initiative. It wasn’t a difficult decision. After hearing about what they had created, Yale enthusiastically decided to get involved becoming the organizations’ first ambassador alongside the organizations co-creators. Since then, Yale assumed the role of advisory council leader and together with Ryan and Scott have collectively built out the organizations” national presence using their curriculum to open minds, explore possibilities, ignite imaginations, give help, and touch hearts and lives forever.

Ryan Ponsford Akili Capital - Main Street Philanthropy At the tender age of 4, Ryan had his first on-stage experience, performing a song for his Grandpa Ralph’s retirement from the California school system. Since that day he has performed, given speeches and tributes, taught courses, participated in musical groups, and facilitated board and family retreats throughout the United States (as well as in Canada, England, Scotland, and Scandinavia). Ryan brings a refreshing, home-cooked, yet professional feel to audiences of all ages.

When he realized that life as a minstrel would not support his lifestyle in Southern California, Ryan stumbled upon the financial industry – an obvious second choice. Over the next eleven years, he worked with a large institution, working his way into their private banking division; where, in working with the ultra-wealthy, he obtained extensive experience in estate planning, trust administration, custom lending, investment management, alternative investments, and multiple other facets in finance. However, throughout this experience, he felt there was something missing from the industry.

Working with families that had achieved tremendous financial success, there seemed to be a trend. Somewhere in the transfer of financial wealth from one generation to the next, there was a major abyss. That the wealth is often lost is no secret; over 90% of transfers fail by the 3rd generation. However, even more tragic was the number of families that seemed to be dissolving through the process. Brothers and sisters were no longer speaking to each other. In-laws became out-laws, nieces and nephews became creditors and predators; and sooner than later the attorneys seemed to be the primary beneficiaries of the estate. Most everyone seemed to put "family” on the top of their life-priority list, yet little was done to nurture family as a core asset. And the problem was not exclusive of the wealthy.

In 2006, in an effort to address this, as well as other gaps in the wealth management industry, Ryan left the corporate world and began assembling an exclusive team of professionals to help families identify their individual, familial, social, and financial assets, and position them for maximum positive impact to their families and communities. He is the founder of several companies as well as Main Street Philanthropy, a non-profit organization, each aligned to support his mission of connecting families. Today, while continuing these relationships, Ryan routinely gives speeches, teaches, facilitates courses for professional advisors and families throughout the United States, has designed tools for multi-generational engagements, and is in the process of writing a book; expected for release in 2015.

Ryan graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. In addition, he holds professional licenses for Securities, Insurance, is a licensed Real Estate Broker, has been named a Five-Star Wealth Manager by San Diego Magazine, an Advisor with Heart by REP Magazine, and holds multiple industry certifications. Beyond the office walls, Ryan is involved in various activities including having served on several non-profit boards, singing in a quartet, playing guitar with a band, songwriting, running up and down a basketball court, and having grown up in Sonoma County, has a small affinity for decent wines. He and his wife, Jennifer, live in San Diego and spend much of their time keeping up with their three young children.
