The Philanthropic Conversation

Claire Costello, Bank of America Private Bank

Clients are increasingly relying on you, their advisors, for guidance with their philanthropy.  A recent U.S. Trust research study (conducted in partnership with The Philanthropic Initiative) focuses on how successful advisors are at rendering philanthropic advice. The study examines philanthropic conversations between traditional advisors (T&E attorneys, accountants and financial advisors) and consumers of their services and advice, including the logistics and substance of these conversations.  The presentation will share highlights from the research including the disconnects between advisor practices and consumer/client expectations. The results provide powerful insights and best practices for advisors who are interested in engaging with their clients about their charitable plans.

Attendees will:

  1. Learn to better understand what clients expect from their advisors with respect to philanthropic advice and counsel
  2. Learn where advisors are falling short of those expectations.
  3. Learn how advisors can better meet those expectations.
