High Impact Legacy Planning

High impact legacy planning is the next level of values-based estate planning. It adds to VBEP that use dynasty trusts and family banks, leadership training used by Fortune 500 CEOs to improve human capital and Triple Impact Investing used by the nation's top families, family offices and family foundations to improve both family, human, and social capital. 

Attendees will:

  1. Learn about impact investing and leadership that are critical to estate planning.  
  2. Learn about the income and tax ramifications of impact investing. 
  3. Learn how charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, and donor advised funds can use "triple impact investing: and the associated tax rules.

Mr. Bassett has extensive experience with family offices, family foundations and impact investing. He has served as Head of Family Offices for both Zions Bank in Salt Lake City and Merrill Lynch in New York City which served as primary advisor to approximately 60 centimillionaires and billionaires. He also led Merrill’s Strategic Philanthropy and Family Foundations group nationally which had as clients 10% of all private foundations in the US. He was a pioneer in impact investing having founded Impact Investment Leaders in 2004 and the Purpose Investment Network in 2014 which has had as clients many of America’s wealthiest families, their foundations, and some of the world’s largest banks and nonprofit organizations;. He recently was a primary advisor on one of the largest “program-related investment” (a from of impact investing) transactions in US history. He has served on the faculty at NYU’s Institute for Federal Taxation and created and taught the course on strategic philanthropy and impact investing for Cannon Financial Institute which trains and certifies 90% of all Trust Companies nationally. He holds a BS in Finance from Brigham Young University and a JD from the University of Houston Law Center where he is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
