In solidarity with two-time AiP annual conference sponsor Save the Children,     AIP is concerned about the children who are suffering in East Africa. Save   the Children has a longstanding presence in the region and experience in   large-scale hunger relief in areas hard-hit by the drought. In the face of so much hardship, Save the Children is on the ground saving lives. However, with the situation still worsening and no rain anticipated until October, they need help to raise money to expand their reach. Here is a compelling video on the issue, tied to the re-release of a classic Bob Marley song ‘I’m Gonna Be Your Friend’

Here is a secure, online giving page. If your company or employees are interested in making a direct donation to help deliver immediate relief, please contact your AIP colleague Sam Connor at Save the Children at 203 341 8202. Thank you for caring about the children and families of East Africa, who so urgently need our help. Together, we can help them survive – and bring them hope.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® has a simple mission: We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. We change lives. We empower our wish kids to pursue their dreams. We share the power of a wish® in every community throughout the nation.

The Foundation was founded in 1980 after a little boy named Chris Greicius realized his heartfelt wish to be a police officer. Today, we grant a wish in the United States every 40 minutes – and every wish is as individual as the child who makes it. From rallying entire cities for a boy who wished to be a superhero to making it possible for a teen to pursue her goal of skiing in the Paralympic Games– we make the impact of each wish continue for a lifetime. SightLife™ is now the leading eye bank in the world! The Lions Clubs of Washington State first started our eye bank, then known as the Northwest Lions Eye Bank, in 1969. That first year, we provided 33 corneas for transplant. Times have changed, and SightLife™ continues to grow. In 2009, we provided 4003 corneas for transplant, meeting 100% the needs in our region and helping fill gaps across the United States and in 55 other countries of the world since 2002! Learn More.
