About Ken Austin

Ken Austin founded Newberg-based A-Dec with his wife, Joan, in 1964.  After much success in the manufacture of dental equipment, the Austins turned their attention toward philanthropic interests and looked for ways to give back to their community.

Their philanthropic projects and contributions are too numerous to list, but chief among them are Springbrook Northwest (now owned by Hazelden), a drug and alcohol treatment center that they founded; Rotary International, which provides portable dental units for missionary projects; and Oregon State University's College of Business, where the Austins facilitated the renovation of Weatherford Hall as well as the creation of the Austin Family Business Program and the Austin Entrepreneurship Program. Perhaps most notably at OSU, a $10 million lead gift propelled the construction and opening of a new home for OSU's College of Business, where there is now an Austin Hall named for them.

Join OPAN in a conversation with Ken Austin and learn more about his incredibly journey as a philanthropist.
