The International Association of Advisors in Philanthropy (AiP) invites you to share your expertise and experience with professionals in philanthropy at Conference on Philanthropy 2017. Please use this CALL FOR SPEAKERS form along with any necessary attachments to be considered.

Conference Speaker Information and Policies

Audience

The Conference on Philanthropy draws approximately 200 AiP members and guests who are truly excited about our emphasis on philanthropy. Our diverse international membership includes financial advisors, attorneys, insurance professionals, accountants, non-profit executives and resource providers. AiP members are client-focused professionals in philanthropy who provide independent, unbiased advice to their clients/donors to enable them to connect their wealth to what they value through inspired giving to transform communities around the world. The global vision of AIP is to transform philanthropy through collaboration.

Educational sessions can range in audience size from 20-75, with keynote sessions drawing 150-200 attendees.

The selection committee is looking for educational sessions targeted to professional advisors (financial planners, attorneys, accountants, philanthropic consultants, etc) who counsel their clients on philanthropy. The focus is on the paying attendee as the member and that the conference is typically a revenue generating program for the association.


Our attendees want to know specifics that can help them with their clients/donors tomorrow and seek this space as an opportunity to practice new strategies instead of being lectured in theoretical examples. Specifically, they are seeking sessions that provide interactive, engaging, and dynamic instruction that will help in the education and execution of charitable best practices, legal and tax matters, philanthropic innovations and emerging trends in family and corporate philanthropy.

    Many of our sessions will be submitted to the CFP Board and other similar entities for continuing education approval.  The CFP Board defines "learning objectives” as a specific, measurable statement of what participants will learn in the program. Learning objectives must be realistic when considering the level of complexity and scope of the course. As such, it is our desire that attendees can leave a presentation and be able to say one or more of the following statements:

    • I learned at least one useful /practical thing in each breakout session.
    • I discovered a new way to approach/resolve a problem today.
    • I changed my viewpoint about at least one thing today.
    • I was inspired at least once today
    • I improved my professional ability to serve my company today.
    • I improved my professional ability to help my clients today.
    • I improved my personal ability to serve my career and my further my own goals today.

    Selection Process
    All proposals received on or before October 30, 2016 will be reviewed by the AiP Conference Planning Committee. Selection will be determined by appropriateness/interest of topic, level of content, comprehensiveness of learning objectives and expertise of speaker. AiP reserves the right to make recommendations for revisions of content within proposals prior to acceptance. Participation as an educator, facilitator, presenter, or moderator/panelist is by invitation only after all proposals are reviewed. Selections will be made by December 30, 2016.

    Compensation
    All presenters are granted a complimentary meeting registration and a sleeping room at the Westin South Coast Plaza for one night.  

    Responsibilities
    In order to make sure AiP has time to put presentations through the continuing education approval process, selected presenters are required to submit the following by the required dates:

    ·         January 31 - Final introduction, bio, headshot and session description.  Failure to submit this information in the appropriate timeframe may result in removal from AiPs conference agenda

    ·         March 3 - Presenters will provide any PowerPoint presentation and/or handouts.  These will also be uploaded to the conference app that will be made available to registered attendees prior to the conference.

    Permission to Record, Reproduce and Distribute
    By accepting the speaking engagement, presenters grant AiP a royalty-free license to record, reproduce and distribute their presentation (including all handouts and PowerPoint presentations) in any way in the future, with appropriate attribution. This license does not change the fact that the presenter retains copyright ownership of the presentation, and does not prohibit them from using their presentation in any way or from allowing others to use it.

    AiP’s Non Commercial Policy
    Conference on Philanthropy attendees are seeking valuable educational sessions and are critical of presenters or sessions that are self-promotional. Conference sessions should only advance the educational process and may not be used for commercial sales pitches, self-promotion or unwarranted criticism of a competitor. Any advance materials submitted that are thought to be in violation of this policy will be returned to the speaker for the appropriate edits.






    Provide a brief description of your presentation content. This should include the topics covered and what attendees can expect to learn from your session.









    Provide a list of up to 5 of your prior speaking engagements, including the date, topic/title, name of the conference and/or organization, size of the audience and whether you were a keynote, session presenter, moderator or panelist. Include references with contact information.
